Grounded in Community. Growing Together.
Meet Julie Twiss
A Neighbor, Advocate, and Community Builder

I grew up in small towns in Indiana and Tennessee, where my parents were farmers and small business owners. A childhood trip to Colorado made a lasting impression, and I moved here in 2001 after earning my Sociology and Social Work degree, making the Broomfield area home.
My husband Jeff, a veteran who works in sustainability, and I recently celebrated our 20th anniversary. Our two teenagers have grown up in Adams 12 schools - Mountain View, Westlake, Legacy, and Hulstrom. The strength of these schools and the surrounding community are a big part of what made us choose Broomfield. We’ve lived in the Brandywine neighborhood for nearly a decade, and my mom now lives nearby in the Skystone neighborhood.

Since settling here, I’ve been deeply engaged in our community, from serving on the Mountain View PTO to my current roles on the Adams 12 Long Range Planning Advisory Board and the Broomfield Library Board, where I’ve proudly served as Chair for the past two years. I’ve also spent four years on the One Book, One Broomfield committee and regularly volunteer at the library and in schools.
Professionally, my background spans social work, education, and project management. I currently work in Adult Services at the College Hill Library, where I recently received the City of Westminster’s 2024 Service Excellence Award in recognition of my community engagement efforts. I earned a Master’s in Library and Information Science while working through the pandemic, and every day I help people navigate challenges, connect to resources, and feel like they belong.

I’m running to represent Ward 1 because I believe in a Broomfield where:
-
We grow smart and sustainably
-
Everyone has access to high-quality city services
-
Livability, open space, and strong community connections are protected
-
Local government is accessible, transparent, and responsive
I'm ready to bring my experience, values, and deep community ties to serve the Broomfield community on City Council. I’d be honored to earn your support.
